1949 began with a ceasefire. Can you believe that! Perhaps a good way to begin. India and Pakistan having gone hammer and tongs at each other for eight months, were compelled by the United Nations Security Council to effect a ceasefire in Kashmir. They were thereafter consigned forever to spend millions of dollars and mass tens of thousands of troops on either side of the border and maintain a sustainable ceasefire with, of course, the US stirring the pot every now and then. That border situation now running into its sixth decade, has ensured that it's not just the Americans who have war veterans; India and Pakistan have had their share, too.
Petty polititians, religious heads and devious governments rally the masses against each other for the one sole reason....money.
ReplyDeleteIn the name of religion, patriotism and other blah blah, innocents are slaughtered while these devils rake in the loot.
The smartest are the Swiss, who have been mercenaries and even now their crack forces are the highest paid lot even if they dress up as clowns and protect the pope.
